"Reaching Up, Reaching In, Reaching Out"
In a time when there is so much unrest among our young people and so much crime and violence, we must seek to help our youth learn good character traits through character development training, self-esteem and influence positive motivation. They need our help.
Our programs, “Brother’s Keeper” and “Pathfinder” are outreach ministries of Ardmore LaSalle Church of Christ in South Bend. Our efforts involve working with inner-city young men, ages 12 and up who are seeking to change their lives and looking for positive influences in their lives. Our program includes “life skill” lessons and spiritual guidance that will have a positive influence that will not only help them spiritually, but hopefully give the needed guidance and direction that these young men so desperately are in need of. Our average attendance each week is between 25 to 40 young men. We also have a time during our program for some physical interaction…..basketball games.
We are presently meeting in an “old school building” on the west side of town (55501 Moss Road) that is over a hundred years old in a small gymnasium (2400 sq Ft) that is in need of much floor repair work or replacement, thus the reason for this correspondence. (Continued)
